Application Deployment Frequently Asked Questions
This FAQ contains answers to questions about deploying VoiceXML applications using Tellme Studio.
- Will I be able to make my Tellme application publically available to users?
- What if I want to deploy my application more broadly?
Q: Will I be able to make my Tellme application publically available to users?
A: Since 1999, Tellme has made many investments in VoiceXML. One of these investments was in an Extensions program, with the goal of making VoiceXML a more utilized public standard. With VoiceXML well on its way to standardization in the W3C and with hundreds of thousands of VoiceXML applications in production, Tellme has decided to retire the Extensions program and invest in other areas. While you cannot make your application publically available to anonymous users, you can continue to build and test your VoiceXML applications on Tellme Studio.
Q: What if I want to deploy my application more broadly?
A: Tellme's vision is to make phone applications as easy to construct and deploy as Web sites. Tellme Studio, the first online resource devoted to designing, building, and testing phone applications, fulfills the first of these objectives. The second objective, making phone applications easy to deploy, will be met by a variety of new programs currently in planning at Tellme. These programs are designed to meet the hosting needs of everyone from individuals and small businesses to e-businesses and large corporations. We aren't yet ready to publicize the details on our plans but are currently looking for large hosting partners interested in a strategic Tellme hosting relationship. Additional program details should be ready around the end of the summer. Thank you for your continued support and patience as we put the finishing touches on our plans. Please send us an email at email@example.com to indicate your interest in our hosting programs. We can't guarantee everyone a personal response but will make certain that you are notified of any program announcements as soon as they are made public.
